During his stay here in Christian Life, Bishop Joseph V. Squires served as Pastor of St. Peter Ministries for 33 years along with his wife, First Lady Beatrice. He was a man of enormous vision and a great spiritual leader. He was a pioneer in Christian ministry and service to God’s people. Crossing the gap of denominations, Bishop Squires, preached the Gospel to thousands of souls and changed the lives of many people. His pastorate at St. Peter, advanced the church in many ways. Besides overseeing the construction of a new church building and increasing membership, Bishop Squires introduced several critical ministries to the Greater Aurora area including, MAVIS (Men Against Violence in Schools), SOS (Save Our Sons), Prison Ministry, groundbreaking Puppet Ministry, and Youth Ministry. Though the life and ministry of Bishop Squires extended for over 60 years, his impact on St. Peter Ministries, Aurora, NC, and the surrounding areas is immeasurable. Our great Bishop and Father will never be forgotten as he leaves a legacy of spiritual excellence in ministry that lights the path for our continued work…“Loving God and man and showing man God’s love.”
